Food Habits Depend Upon Prevailing Customs, Climate, and Geographical Locations

Normally when you think of food it can refer to any edible substance that you are aware of or regularly accustomed to.

Mostly, our family traditions and habits define our food. If you are a vegetarian, then, by food, you may look for rice or wheat food, vegetables, pulses or lentils, milk, fruits, nuts, water, etc.

If a non-vegetarian, then food will mean to you everything including meat, fish, eggs, besides all the items mentioned above.

Even among vegetarians, there can be different styles of preparing and consuming food. Some may use rice, whereas others use wheat as the main food. Then the side dishes may also vary according to their habits. Some eat more spices and hot dishes whereas others may like sweet and more soft items. Some can prepare more liquid foods whereas others prepare more solid items.

Climate Differences also affect food habits.
Hot climate region people mostly try to eat cool foodstuffs to keep themselves protected from heat whereas cold temperature places people will need hot foods mostly of meat and spices or wheat products to keep them warm besides wine and other beverages.

Coming to Geographical Locations, people residing in coastal regions or seashores mostly depend on seafood as their main food. Similarly, tribals residing in forest areas or hills can look at animal food and birds as their main food.

So, there are various concepts of food for different people. But, the main thing is that whatever food they may consume, it should be sufficient enough to provide them all the nutrients required to keep their bodies energetic and active.

A complete food or a good combination of food is that which should contain enough proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates, acids, and salts besides ample water that are all essential for the proper functioning of body. So, any food should contain the requisite amount of starch, fat, fiber, minerals, water, etc.
